Despite the importance of person-centeredness in long-term care, the term has been described as "fuzzy," difficult to operationalize, and at risk of becoming an industry buzzword rather than a standard of care. Responding to those and other concerns related to realizing person-centeredness, researchers led a multi-year project involving international surveys, literature review, and discussion with providers and experts to more deeply understand the challenges and conceptualizations of person-centeredness across settings.
